Future Vet Kids Camp is back for the April 2022 school holidays following a sell-out January 2022 camp in Sydney.
The veterinary-inspired program is designed and run by twin veterinarians Drs Audrey and Alison Shen from Bondi Vet TV show and Aussie Mobile Vet. It caters to kids aged nine to 16 years and encourages responsible pet ownership, the profession of veterinary medicine and surgery, and a love and appreciation of all animals and their habitats.
Registrations are open now for the April 2022 camp, which will be held at Waverley College in Waverley, NSW from 19-23 April. A Virtual Online VET Camp will also run from 9-23 April with the ability for kids to join the classroom virtually (during the face-to-face camp dates) and participate with questions in real time.
Campers will learn about the world of veterinary science and the different professions working with animals.
Included in the program is pet CPR, ultrasound, baking pet treats, exotic pets, genetic diseases, veterinary acupuncture, analysing blood laboratory results, suture workshops, animal rescue, wildlife conservation and much more.
Students will also meet rescue dogs, handle rescue kittens and reptiles, and visit state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals for a behind-the-scenes experience.
Dr Alison Shen, said the presenters and excursions organised are outstanding, including vet hospital visits, zoo visits and surgery specialist talks to dog training demonstrations, animal behaviour and more.
“The older kids learn how to work through real life cases, interpret blood work and imaging and even draw blood from model pet arms and observe real life surgery.”
Future Vet Kids Camp has also announced the 2022 PetSure Scholarship for a total of 12 deserving participants – 10 to attend the face-to-face camp and 2 to attend the Virtual Online program. Deadline for entries is 4 April.
