The North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) has announced Teef For Life as winner of the sixth annual VMX 2023 Pet Pitch Competition.
Teef For Life is a product by biotech company Primal Health which strengthens good bacteria in animals’ mouths while weakening the harmful bacteria.
The competition, which saw 50 applicants whittled down to three finalists, is a shark-tank-style pitch event, with the winner taking home USD $5,000 as well as brand exposure and recognition.
Gene O’Neill, CEO of NAVC, said they were highly impressed by the calibre of candidates in this year’s competition.
“All three finalists presented innovative products that will benefit our industry. While the competition was tough, the judges determined that TEEF For Life was the best choice for this year’s award. We look forward to witnessing the growth of their startup through this prestigious recognition.”
The flagship product of Teef For Life is Protektin42, a prebiotic water supplement for daily dental hygiene for dogs and cats.
Dr Emily Stein, co-founder and inventor of Teef, who also presented the pitch to judges and attendees, said they are honoured to be awarded first place.
“Congratulations to fellow finalists, PDX Biotech and GekkoVet. It’s been such a wonderful experience. We’re excited to be a part of such innovative initiatives in animal wellness.”
VMX is the world’s largest and most comprehensive veterinary conference and has held this competition since 2018.
